2025 and 2026 were amazing years for the Twilight Princess Speedrunning community, bringing new tricks, runners, and most importantly, PBs!
In august the elusive poe gate skip was finally cracked after a decade of head butting and heart break. This took minutes off the GC and HD records and ushered in a new era of TP speedruns...
Flash forward to February 2026, Gymnast was cooking up something huge. On February 3rd, 2026 he posted a video in the discord where he dropped a pot in a very precise location and was able to clip into the poe gate. This caused many people to just in and learn more about this phenomenon. This technique became known as "displacement clipping" and changed the speedrun even more once agan.
Using the new displacement clips, we were given a new method of poe gate skip that was significantly easier than the last and a lot faster too. This also gave the elusive forest escape on Wii which brought Wii and GC records closer than every before! Displacement clipping also allowed for City Gate Clip, saving even more time. It also gave a new method of Stallord Skip which most people find to be a lot easier, as well as being faster and safer! DSs also gave a lot of smaller changes, but all these small changes add up.
In WD5, runners of all skill levels will attempt to use all of these new techniques and put their skills to the test and see who can come out ON TOP and win the ultimate prize.
